2016 Municipal Millage Rates

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

The County Treasurer has posted 2016 municipal millage rates for the 130 municipalities in Allegheny County.  Our analysis on these millage rates omits five municipalities–Clairton, Duquesne, and McKeesport levy split rates on land and buildings and McDonald and Trafford straddle the County line and have millage rates that reflect Washington and Westmoreland, respectively.  That leaves 125 municipalities to analyze.

For 2016, 97 of these municipalities have made no change to their millage rate.  21 raised their millage; most of these were less than a half of a mill with the exception of Churchill, Turtle Creek, Braddock Hills, and Oakdale.  7 municipalities decreased their tax rate in 2016, with all but one municipality (Cheswick) reducing the rate by less than one half of a mill.

Since 2013, when the reassessment went into effect, 49 municipalities have kept in place the millage they set to comply with Act 71of 2005 revenue neutrality requirements.
