We wrote last week about the significant cooling on the part of the Cornell School District to be a partner in a proposed Moon-Cornell merger that would have been on a very quick timetable. The meeting of the Moon Area School Board on Monday removed the item from discussion and placed it on the agenda for October 26th, roughly five days before these two districts were to take a vote on the plan.
In the City of Pittsburgh, a City councilman wants to hold a public discussion on a proposed agreement (not really a merger) that would send Wilkinsburg’s 7-12th graders to the Pittsburgh Public Schools, with the Councilman noting “… My fear is the school board will do this merger without an open public process“. Votes on that proposal are to occur by both boards the week of the 26th. Sounds like the feelings expressed between City and school officials which led to the formation of the City’s education task force that was supposed to improve communication and collaboration.
