State Tax Collections Through November

If there is a state budget approved in December, the five months of general fund tax collections since the start of the fiscal year on July 1st will stand as a period of comparison on which taxes kept rolling in while there was no budget.

As of the end of November, general fund tax collections totaled $10.7 billion.  When we wrote a Brief at the end of October that examined how much of state government was operating largely without pause, general fund tax collections through September since the start of the fiscal year were $6.8 billion.  Close to $4 billion has been collected since then.

Compared to fiscal year to date collections in 2014 (July through November) the $10.7 billion is $100 million above the $10.6 billion collected.
