Wednesday’s blog discussed a Senate amendment to come up with a fix for the host fee paid over to counties and municipalities that was struck down in late September. The House of Representatives passed legislation that added other forms of gaming into the bill, so without additional voting days the issue of the host fee will have to be addressed in January when the General Assembly reconvenes.
Officials in municipalities hosting the casinos have proposed a variety of temporary solutions, from agreements with the casinos themselves as sort of a payment in lieu of taxes or tax anticipation notes or lines of credit.
